NOVOCAINE

If ever there was a movie that provoked its viewers to wince (a reflex response to sudden pain) while watching - this is that movie. Don’t be too concerned about it - you’ll get used to it if you stick with the film….LOL

She brought sunshine in my life
— Movie quote

You can never imagine the multitude of cautions one would have to take if you had this persons rare condition. It becomes apparent early on in the film and carries through as the film progresses!

Novocaine effectively illustrates the lengths one would go to protect those they care about. The film is filled with hope, romance and violence with the the audience’s main concern being the well-being of the intended rescuer.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. The action sequences are both impressive and visceral. The film’s attention to detail in portraying the disease is commendable, including the use of adhesive tape on pencils and the implementation of a timer to prevent verbal outbursts. These subtle elements effectively convey the negative impact of the disease. The protagonist, a normal individual who lacks the ability to feel pain, engages in intense and thrilling fights. The sound design is particularly noteworthy, with the gunshots exuding a palpable weight, and the punches and bone-cracking sounds resonating deeply within the audience.

The focus of this film is less on guessing the next plot point and more on relating to the characters and finding a way to survive, while maintaining the main character’s hopes and standards.

Don’t miss this unusual film - you may never see anything like it going forward!!

When the girl of his dreams is kidnapped, a man incapable of feeling physical pain turns his rare condition into an unexpected advantage in the fight to rescue her.
