The Crash
WARNING - If you have experienced a fatal crash in your family or to close friends, you need to be aware this documentary may cause discomfort for you to watch.
“That split second changed all of our lives forever”
I had never heard of this story before watching this documentary, so to say the least I was blown away and shocked for what I was about to see and hear in the film.
“The Crash” is a captivating documentary that provides a platform for nearly every individual involved in the tragedy, including Mackenzie Shirilla, the girl at the center of this story. Once all the the emotional rhetoric of the friends and defensive parents is removed, a new and unsettling portrait of Mackenzie begins to show its ugly and questioning head.
One of the documentary’s most striking contrasts is found in its portrayal of the families involved. Davion Flanagan’s parents are basically grounded and accountable, while the Shirillas appear evasive and indulgent and you will question their honestly.
This documentary left me glued to every word throughout the film. The level of ignorance, manipulation, and sociopathy exhibited by the young woman was overwhelmingly disturbing. However, what literally drove me crazy was listening her parents’ consistent excuses, defenses, and enabling of her behavior. None what so ever accountability, only a constant justification for her actions. It is an infuriating documentary that has left me stunned by the lack of remorse and responsibility displayed throughout.
The outcry of followup videos on social media with a never ending parade of opinions continues on a daily basis.
You have to see this for yourself to imagine and understand what I’m referring to in this review!
She was the ONLY one who walked away from this CRASH!
